Career Exploration Research Guide

1.       Narrow down careers of interest by conducting research and learning more about the job duties, educational requirements, sample job titles, expected growth, salary expectations and more. Tip: You may use career research tools such as the ones found on the Career/Major Explorers section of this website. Sample research tools include: MyPlan, The Occupational Outlook Handbook, and the “What to do with this Major” website.

2.       Write down the pros and cons for each of the careers that you narrowed down.
For example, a pro may be that there is a lot of job growth expected in your career and a con may be that the position requires a lot of physical work and long periods of standing. A lot of the pros and cons will be learned from your research conducted above.
