Lake-Sumter Community College

Academic Standards

Students must maintain a grade of ‘C’ or higher for each health information program core course.

Students must maintain a minimum of 2.0 overall college grade point average.

In keeping with college policy, forgiveness for grades earned will be granted to the student only where “D” and “F” grades were earned and will be limited to two (2) repeat attempts per course. Only the most recent grade earned will be used in determining the student’s GPA.

Due to the comprehensive nature of the national certifying examination for Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) and to the rapid changes in allied health, students are strongly encouraged to complete the AAS degree in Health Information Management within three (3) years of taking the initial program core course(s).

Please see the Standards of Academic Progress section of the LSCC Catalog for further academic standards that apply to all programs at LSCC.
