Jill Semento is entering her first season as the Head Softball Coach for Lake-Sumter Community College. Semento grew up in Umatilla, FL and graduated from Umatilla High School in 2007. While a part of the high school softball team she was a two-time Class 3A First Team All-State honoree at Umatilla (Fla.) High School. She also hit safely in 31 consecutive games during her career at UHS.
Semento’s college career began in the SEC Conference at the University of South Carolina. During her freshman year as a Gamecock she led the team in on-base percentage (.397), slugging percentage (.487), home runs (5), runs batted in (18), walks (14) and hit-by-pitches(7). She stood second in doubles (6) and triples (1) and ranked third on the squad with a .287 batting average, 10 runs scored and 33 hits. Semento committed just two errors in 55 chances at the hot corner. As a sophomore she led the team in batting average (.313), slugging percentage (.469), on-base percentage (.409), RBIs (24), walks (14) and sacrifice flies (2). These stats earned her a spot on the NFCA All-Southeast Region team. She also gained placement on the Southeastern Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll.

After transferring to Stetson University for her junior and senior seasons, Semento made the Atlantic Sun All-Tournament Team and A-Sun All-Academic Team for her junior year. She played in 52 games in her debut season with the Hatters, starting 51 games at third base. She batted .224 with 7 doubles (second on the team), 3 home runs, 16 RBI and tied for second on the team with 25 walks. After suffering knee injury in the summer, it was not sure if Semento would make it back for her senior campaign. She battled back and was able to start for the Hatters on opening day. She hit .300 for the Hatters and led the team in home runs (7), RBI (29), walks (29) and HBP (11). She ended her career by being named as one of the members on the All-Atlantic Sun Conference First Team and the Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-District III First Team for 2011. Semento graduated with a degree in Sport Management.
