Continuing Education

A variety of noncredit courses open to the public are offered throughout the year by Continuing Education. Courses are held on campus and at many convenient locations throughout Lake and Sumter Counties. Courses are offered not only at night but also during the weekdays and even on Saturdays.

To register for a class, submit a registration form.
Additional classes will be scheduled and posted at the end of each month.

Courses offered by Continuing Education address the following community needs:

  • Self-Enrichment
  • Vocational
  • Lifelong Learning: Art, Health, History, Language, and Special Interest

All courses are designed to meet the needs of businesses, industry, government, and the general public.

Courses which provide an opportunity for the upgrading of vocational skills are offered at the college. Various programs, offering the necessary continuing education units required to maintain licenses, are also provided by the College.

Pre-registration is required for all noncredit courses due to limited space. Your satisfaction is important to us! If you feel that your expectations have not been met by the end of the first class session, officially notify Continuing Education before the class meets for the second time, stating your reason, and a full refund will be processed. In order to receive a full refund on one-day courses, you must notify us two days in advance. No refunds are issued after this day.

Continuing Education Units

Lake-Sumter Community College offers the Continuing Education Unit (CEU) for approved noncredit continuous education programs. Programs approved for CEU awards must meet criteria set by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. One CEU is awarded for each 10 hours of instruction and is the nationally recognized standard unit of measure that can be earned by participants in qualified programs of continuing education. Verification of CEU awards is available through Continuing Education upon request by the student.
