Learning Center Policies:Our Contract with You
NAME (print and sign):_________________________________________
COURSES____________________________________________________
The Learning Center is not a substitute for attending classes. If your instructor advises us that you are not attending class, you will lose your LC privileges. We will:
Provide up to one hour per day of individualized tutoring, and in addition:
Provide space and computer access for class or assignment preparation and general study, whenever available and for an unlimited time.
Provide space for study groups to meet.
Provide textbooks and online resources to assist with your studies.
Provide models and special course materials for science and math classes.
Provide test preparation skills practices for CPT, CLAST, HESI, NCLEX and other tests as requested.
Track your use of the center and report it to your instructor as required.
Provide printing and copying of drafts of your assignment. Not internet pages!
Try to answer any and all questions you might have.
You will:
Arrive on time if you have an appointment.
Be prepared with the details of the assignment for which you want help.
Not expect us to correct every detail of your paper or write or research it for you.
Be prepared to do practices or reviews to improve skills necessary to be successful in your assignment.
Be aware that we will focus on the one thing you request help with – grammar, thesis development, citation, math theory – and not every element of your assignment.
Be aware that we can contact your instructor to clarify an assignment if we are not sure how to assist you.
Sign in and out of Accutrack whenever you use the center for study, help, or testing.
Bring a photo ID when making up a test or exam in the LC.
Understand the rules of plagiarism (academic dishonesty) and abide by them.
Restrict your use of the computers to class and library content. No internet browsing or MySpace!
If you have any questions, problems, suggestions or complaints, please see a coordinator to get them resolved. We want every student to feel welcome here, and we hope you will find that the Learning Centers are an important part of your academic success.
