The mission of the Lake-Sumter State College Foundation, Inc. is excellence in education, service to the community and financial assistance to qualified students.

 

 

 

Message from the Executive Director

For many years, the Lake-Sumter State College Foundation, Inc. (LSSC Foundation) has brought together a diverse group of individuals who share the same passion for higher education in our community. This dedicated volunteer board of business and community leaders understands that educating students goes far beyond merely providing access and financial resources. It also includes empowering the students of our communities to help others as they have been helped, and become a successful part of the workforce in our area as they pursue their dreams here at Lake-Sumter State College.

Our community takes great pride in its support of the LSSC Foundation. From awarding scholarships for tuition and books to providing funds for faculty and staff to purchase equipment to further educate our students, gifts to the LSSC Foundation directly benefit local residents and positively impact economic growth and success. As a result of the generous contributions from our community, the LSSC Foundation has grown from $3 million in assets to over $10 million in assets in the past nine years.

With over nine years experience as the Executive Director of the LSSC Foundation I have had the pleasure to witness first-hand how these gifts make a difference in the lives of students in Lake and Sumter counties and the surrounding communities.

 

We believe in “Changing Lives and Building Futures” for students attending LSSC. Each year, the Foundation provides over $450,000 in scholarships and administers over 400 scholarships and endowment accounts. In addition, each year the LSSC Foundation kicks off its annual campaign to help raise dollars for scholarships and program support. Not only have we exceeded our goal each year, but the LSSC faculty and staff supports this campaign with over 80% who give. Whether you are a recent high school graduate, valedictorian of your class, a single parent, or a returning adult student, the LSSC Foundation strives to ensure that opportunities continue to exist at LSSC for access and excellence in higher education.

As LSSC continues to experience record growth in enrollment, the LSSC Foundation recognizes the needs for scholarship support will increase. With your support we will do our best to meet those needs. We hope you will join us in our efforts of “Changing Lives and Building Futures” in our community.
