Library & Discount Cards
A libary card must be presented each time materials are checked out. Cardholders are responsible for all materials checked out on their cards. Address and phone number changes should be reported to the library. Lost or stolen cards should be reported as soon as possible.
Lake-Sumter Students, Faculty & Staff
LSSC students, faculty and staff can obtain a Library & Discount Card at any campus library. A photo ID and student number (X-ID) is required for issuance. Distance learners may request a card by phone (352-365-3563) or by e-mail.
Residents of Lake County or Sumter County who are not currently registered LSSC students may use a valid Lake County Library System library card or Sumter County Library System library card and a valid Florida picture ID to check out material. There is no charge for Lake County or Sumter County patrons.
Out-of-county residents and Lake and Sumter residents who do not have a valid county library card may purchase an annual community borrower's library card for $7.50. A Florida driver’s license or state ID card must be presented.
Students who are currently enrolled at any other public Florida college or university will be entered into the LSSC library system with the presentation of a valid photo ID card from their home institution or a non-photo library card supported by other photo ID.
LSSC students, faculty and staff may request books or periodical articles not available in the LSSC libraries by using the online Interlibrary Loan Request form or by using the forms available within LINCC or FirstSearch records. The initial loan period and any renewal for an Interlibrary Loan book are at the discretion of the Interlibrary Loan Librarian, based on the policies of the library from which the book was borrowed. Periodical articles are supplied as photocopies and do not have to be returned. Interlibrary Loan is normally free to the borrower and the Interlibrary Loan Librarian will check with the borrower before proceeding with any request for which the lending library would charge the borrower. Loan Periods, Limits and Renewals
Circulating books, government documents and vertical file materials are checked out for three weeks and may be renewed once unless requested by another borrower. Periodicals, reference materials, newspapers and audio-visual materials may not be checked out.
LSSC students may check out six books per subject and a total of 15 items. Other borrowers may check out a maximum of six items.
Renewals may be requested in person, by telephone (352-365-3563), or by using the "MyAccount" feature within the LINCC catalog. For login to MyAccount, the borrower ID is the X-ID and PIN is your six-digit birth date (MMDDYY).
Lost or Damaged Materials
Materials are to be returned to any LSSC library on or before the due date. If items are not returned within 45 days of the due date, an invoice for $65.00 per item will be sent to the borrower. The $65.00 non-refundable replacement charge, includes $35.00 for the book and $30.00 for processing.
If library material is damaged, library staff will evaluate the damage to the book. If the book can be repaired in-house, there will be no charge to the borrower. If the book must be sent outside the library for repairs, such as rebinding, the $30.00 processing fee will be assessed. If the book is damaged beyond repair the full $65.00 non-refundable replacement charge will be assessed.
Student registration, transcripts, and grades will be blocked if a student has any overdue materials checked out. All holds will be lifted after all materials are returned or all fines are paid.
Instructors may place materials on reserve for student use during the term. A library card is required for reading or photocopying all reserve materials. Loan period (library use only, overnight, or one week) is determined by the instructor.
