Module 2: Search Strategies
Title or Author Searching
If you know the title of a particular item, here are some hints for locating the item:
- Leave off any initial articles (a, an, the, etc.)
- Be careful to type the words of the title in order
- It is better to enter an incomplete title than an inaccurate title (For example: Journey to the Center)
Use author search if you know the author's name. Here are some search hints:
- For the library catalog and most databases, enter the last name and then the first name.
- For example: enter Walker Alice to find books by Alice Walker
