Foundation's "Changing Lives-Building Futures" Campaign...

The Lake-Sumter Community College Foundation, Inc. kicked off their 2009 Annual Campaign: Changing Lives…Building Futures on September 3, 2009 with the goal to raise $150,000. “The Changing Lives and Building Futures campaign goes far beyond raising funds, it’s a broader goal to help establish a stronger culture of giving that affords more opportunities for the students of LSCC,” said Rosanne Brandeburg, Executive Director.

During the past 30 years, more than 10,000 students have received a scholarship from the LSCC Foundation, Inc. Many have graduated and have had a significant impact on their fields of expertise, their families and their communities. Our donors are increasingly more aware that a college education from LSCC has positive ripple effects for generations to come in our community. Because of our generous donors, many of these students are where they are today because of a Lake-Sumter Community College Foundation Scholarship, and you can be a part of this positive change by making a donation to the 2009 Annual Campaign. The 2009 Annual Campaign provides financial assistance for need based and merit based scholarships to help students on the path to a college education and a successful career. As we move forward in these challenging economic times, LSCC will continue to experience enrollment growth resulting in more students seeking financial assistance from the LSCC Foundation, Inc. with the hopes to achieve their dream of a college education. Financial donations from the community are what make the difference in a student's life because more than half the students enrolled at LSCC do not qualify for other forms of financial aid.  The LSCC Foundation, Inc. Board of Directors is leading the annual campaign under the direction Debbie Boggus, Renee Furnas, Harry Hackney and Bret Jones. Each year the LSCC Foundation raises funds from friends and supporters to help keep education at Lake-Sumter Community College affordable and to ensure educational excellence for all students.

“We are extremely grateful for the tremendous level of support Lake-Sumter Community College receives from its alumni and friends, corporations, foundations and many organizations,” said Rosanne Brandeburg.  “Private support is very important to the mission of the college, and the generosity of these donors benefits every student, faculty and staff member, and user of LSCC’s services.

Invest in a Commemorative Brick for the Cooper Memorial Library...

LEAVE A LEGACY IN SOUTH LAKE COUNTY

The Lake-Sumter Community College Foundation, Inc. is offering commemorative bricks to community members who would like to support the new Cooper Memorial Library at LSCC South Lake Campus. “Supporting the Cooper Memorial Library with a commemorative brick is a great way to honor an alumnus, friend, family member, business or civic group and also helps build a legacy in our community brick by brick,” said Rosanne Brandeburg, executive director of the LSCC Foundation, Inc.

The engraved bricks will enhance the walkway leading into the Cooper Memorial Library, and will be a permanent tribute to those who have supported the library for years to come. The new Cooper Memorial Library, formally dedicated on September 25, provides students and residents of South Lake County a state-of-the-art facility with wireless computer access, a bookstore, café, computer classrooms, group-study rooms and community meeting rooms. The community will also enjoy full library services, including general access to computers, a 6,000 square foot children's section and a separate area for teenagers. The library is a partnership project between Lake-Sumter Community College, the Lake County Board of County Commissioners and the University of Central Florida, and supported by the Friends of the Cooper Memorial Library and the Cooper Memorial Library Association, Inc.

The commemorative bricks are $50, and include up to 3 lines of text. Funds generated from the sale of the bricks will be used to fund a variety of programs at the new library. To reserve a brick and support the Cooper Memorial Library, please visit www.lscc.edu/foundation for an order form or call Rosanne Brandeburg at (352) 365-3518. Lake-Sumter Community College Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit, 501(c)3 corporation which receives and administers private gifts, bequests and donations to benefit LSCC students and to enhance the quality of education at the College.
